I Timer (Internet Timer)
When you first use the timer none of the options are set.
The first thing you should do is open the Set up window, this is available from the Options menu and enter the "Maximum time before ISP disconnects"
You can only enter 2 digits into each of the Hrs Mins Sec settings but if these already contain 2 digits i.e. 00, 02 etc you will need to delete them before entering new values.
Next enter the "Show count down
when time remaining less or equal" time.
If you want to be warned say 2mins before the ISP disconnects then put 2 in the
minutes box
Also tick the box next to this option, this allows the timer window to pop up
when the time is reached.
If you want to be reminded say every 15mins whilst connected then enter this time into "Remind me every" and tick the box next to this option, this will allow a reminder window to pop up after every time period you specified.
Ideal settings for the next options are:-
"Set timer to start automatically" ticked. This will make the the timer start as soon as you make a dial up connection if the timer app is already running.
"Use system tray" ticked. this will place the timer in the right hand area of the task bar. This is the best combination to have with above option.
"On top" ticked. This will make the timer window stay on top of all others.
"Minimized" not ticked. If ticked will also place timer on task bar.
"Hidden" ticked. When timer is in system tray, that's all you will see until you click on the icon.
"Display count down or elapsed time" This just changes what is displayed in the timers title bar.
The best way to use ITimer is to
create a short cut to it in "Start">"Programs">"StartUP"
This can be done by right clicking on
"Start">"Open">"Programs">"StartUp"
and then right clicking in the "StartUp" window and clicking
"New">"Short cut" and browsing to the folder where the
ITimer is stored. Then it will be always be there sitting and waiting to detect
the connections.
You can also achieve this by dragging the ITimer entry in the
"Start">"Programs" to the "StartUp" menu entry.
If you don't want to do it that way then just start it as you would any other app and use its menu to dial your connection.
